Purpose

Surface-to-air guided missile (SAM) SOSNA-R is used as basic armament of short-range army and navy air defense missile and missile/gun systems with optronic guidance system (SOSNA and PALMA Systems types).

Main structure principles

SAM SOSNA-R is a two-stage missile and consists of guided submissile and short-time operation separable solid-propellant engine.
- Use of “canard” aerodynamic configuration.
- Use of laser beam rider for missile guidance system.
- Warhead: rod-fragmentation for target destruction by missed intercept;
- AP-fragmentation for target destruction by direct hit.
- Impact fuse and non-impact target sensor.
- SAM SOSNA-R is stored in hermetical TL container.
- Maintenance free.
